Kala Namak is an Indian rock salt used especially in Ayurvedic cooking. The dark color of the salt results from the enclosed sulfur compounds, which also determine the aroma of the. The salt has a sulfurous aroma reminiscent of eggs and is very intense. Therefore, one should approach the desired dose slowly.

Kala Namak goes well with hearty egg dishes, bean dishes and stews with legumes.

Usage:
Use the salt sparingly at first. The smell takes some getting used to. The coarse salt is suitable for the mill.
