Description:
Basil comes in many varieties and can be found in numerous cuisines around the world as a seasoning. In ancient times it was considered an unlucky herb, but today it is a central ingredient, especially in Italian cuisine. Basil, which is grown in the Mediterranean region, has a slightly clove-like aroma.

Basil is excellent for seasoning tomato salads, tomato sauces, but also for fish and mushrooms. In South Asia, it enhances stir-fries and soups.

Usage:
Since basil loses its aroma over high heat, it should be added at the end of cooking.
