Sel Gris coarse
Sel Gris is a handmade sea salt with a gray-greenish hue and residual moisture. Due to "impurities" with algae and other organic suspended matter from the salt ponds, the salt has a taste of sea water. Ideal for fish in the salt crust.

Description:
Our Sel Gris comes from a small island called Noirmoutier on the west coast of France. Sel Gris is a handmade sea salt with a gray-greenish hue and residual moisture. The "impurities" of algae and other suspended organic matter are responsible for this coloration. They also give the salt a distinct taste of seawater. The salt is very suitable for salting cooking water, e.g. for pasta dishes with seafood or mussel broth. Since the salt's residual moisture causes it to stick together in the oven, it is the ideal salt for preparing fish cooked in a salt crust.
Usage:
Use the salt in quantity according to taste. The salt should not be stored in metal containers because of its residual moisture. It is unsuitable for salt mills.
