A particularly popular blend in Syria and Jordan, used as a table condiment for grilled foods or eaten in the form of a dip with pita bread. Also excellent for sprinkling on hummus or labneh and for flavoring the filling of börek. The sour-smoky flavor of the mixture also goes very well with meatballs, kebabs and vegetables.
In Arabic, the term za'tar is also used for thyme, oregano and savory.
Uses:
Use as a sprinkle seasoning in quantity to taste. As a dip, mix with olive oil and dip freshly toasted pita bread. Alternatively, use the paste to coat bread before toasting.
Ingredients:
Sesame seeds, sumac, thyme, oregano, sea salt (1%).
